The Raleigh Chopper MK1 was introduced late in 1968 in the
USA with a British launch in September 1969. The early design
of the MK1 varies in many ways from the more common and popular
MK2 Chopper and it was these variations that gave the MK1 a short
life in the bike shops.
The rear of the frame was prone to
snapping, the handle bars collapsed and the long seat carried
no warning that the bike was "not constructed to carry passengers".
Surrounded in controversy the bike was quickly replaced with
the MK2 but before it was a range of models has been released
in
the form of single speed coaster brake bikes, girlie's, 3 speed's.
5 speed's and the rarest of all choppers the 10 speed.
If you have a 10 speed in the shed, please give me a call and
I will swap some Bug parts!! |
